Originally modified in 1679 by Owen Williams, this is an exceptional property, believed to have been extended in 1805 to provide an imposing drawing room, which was then redesigned by Sir Clough Williams Ellis of Portmeirion fame. Amongst many fine features in the house are the high beamed ceilings, stop chamfered beams, moulded cornices carried around the walls and beams, a superb original arched stone fireplace incorporating the Owen Williams coat of arms, an oak staircase, and painted panelling. Many of the rooms have recessed windows with internal window shutters. At one time, the house was an extensive estate recorded as being over 600 acres. The house was bought by the present owner in a rundown condition, and has been beautifully and sympathetically restored since its purchase.
An oak front door opens into the reception hall with magnificent carved stone fireplace with coat of arms above, beamed ceiling, two window seats, and boarded floors. From the doorway on the left is the dining room with a fireplace, high beamed ceiling, and recessed shelving. The drawing room is accessed from here, with large French-tiled woodburner, high ceiling with central rose and moulded cornice, and a door to the rear gardens and woodland gardens.
